On September 9, 2026, USA Rare Earth will usher in the next step in its mine-to-magnet supply chain in Blacksburg, South Carolina, representing a major milestone in expanding U.S. production of rare earth metals and high-performance permanent magnets.
With a planned $1.2 billion investment, the new facility will be designed to produce refined rare earth metals and sintered neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets. These are critical components used across defense, aerospace, semiconductors and advanced technology, robotics, automotive, medical technologies and advanced manufacturing.
Blacksburg, South Carolina represents a major step in expanding long-term U.S. production capacity for refined rare earth metals and sintered neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets. The facility will add to USA Rare Earth’s growing capabilities across the rare earth value chain, connecting upstream resources with downstream manufacturing.
