METALLURGIST

The metallurgist will provide technical advice and guidance in metallurgical testing and analysis. This role will be responsible for implementing specific metallurgical projects, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of the department. The metallurgist will work in close coordination with laboratory and analytical technicians, other engineers, and technical advisors.

What You’ll Do

  • Research into topics including Comminution and Hydrometallurgy

  • General support to the metallurgical team for test work sample preparation, process testing execution and supervision, data entry, analysis, and reporting

  • Assists in metallurgical studies, development, testing and analyses of designs, processes or procedures

  • Reports on metallurgical or process work and make recommendations to Principal Engineer/Metallurgist on appropriate action to resolve or correct issues

  • Review and recommend new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocols

  • Contribute to the improvement of metallurgical processes

  • Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment


  • Provide guidance and counsel to site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations
     

  • Maintain current working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations

  • Participate on cross-functional teams to manage project progress

  • Assist with process development and engineering design for processing projects, including process flow diagrams, mass balances, and design criteria

  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Salary Range: $80,000 - 110,000

Who You Are

  • An enthusiastic self-starter with a Bachelor of Science or Master's in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field, and five (5) years of related experience in metallurgy or related scientific field
     

  • Knowledge of the basic principles and methods used in complex metallurgical and processing analyses

  • Able to conduct research and analyze information of considerable difficulty to draw valid conclusions

  • Able to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

  • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
