We’re seeking an experienced leader to join our team in the critical role of controller. The ideal candidate will have solid communication, technology, analytical, and managerial skills, as well as possess knowledge of all aspects of GAAP and understand US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations and provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Initial duties will have a broad scope as we build out our team and grow the business.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and direct the finance and accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and payroll

  • Oversee the preparation of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with U.S. GAAP

  • Work with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit

  • Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk

  • Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance

  • Produce the annual budget and forecasts; report significant budget differences to management

  • Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations 

  • Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance

  • Evaluate and implement new software (e.g. accounting, travel & expense management)

  • Develop and lead a high performing accounting team

Who You Are

  • A CPA with a Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, or related field and 10+ years proven accounting experience

  • Strong understanding of banking and treasury functions and in-depth knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting

  • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial analysis

  • Experience managing financial projects (e.g., developing / implementing new accounting processes)

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting

  • Previous experience in publicly traded companies

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including the ability to synthesize complicated technical concepts into Board or Executive level presentations
